El Moviento Indigena desconoce al Gobierno del Ecuador
2006-03-24 Luego de calificar como "dictatorial" al gobierno de Ecuador, Luis Macas, presidente de la Confederación de Nacionalidades Indígenas del Ecuador (CONAIE), ratificó que el movimiento indígena se ha declarado en rebeldía y desconoce al gobierno de Alfredo Palacio.

    Mourning - Human Rights Activist Angel Shingre Murdered

    2003-11-09 RECOKA, together with other human rights organizations, is mourning about Angel Shingre (47), a brave and courageous fighter for the rights of us indigenous people of the ecuadorian rain forest.

    Angel Shingre, Leader of the rights relief NGO „Oficina de Derecho Ambiental“, which is currently denunciating Texaco, was shot in cold blood on November 4 at 6.15 am in open street. This information was officially released by the city of Coca. According to witnesses' reports, Angel Shingre was picked up by a taxi in front of his appartement. In the taxi he was seriously injured. In the district of Bario the men pulled him out of the taxi and fired three targetted shots onto him. Angel Shingre died in the hospital. He leaves behind 7 children.
